BURNOUT! 5 Warning signs...

It’s that time of the year. That time where you are “gatvol” (fed up & tired). Be vigilant of your mental health at this time. Here are 5 signs to look out for if you think you might be “Burnt out”…

What is Burnout?

Burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion that results from chronic stress and anxiety. It can affect anyone who feels overwhelmed by their work or personal life, and it can have serious consequences for your health and well-being.

  1. Fatigue

One of the most obvious signs of burnout is feeling tired all the time. You may have trouble getting out of bed, staying focused, or completing tasks. You may also experience physical symptoms such as headaches, muscle pain, or digestive problems. Fatigue can impair your immune system and make you more prone to infections and illnesses.

  1. Cynicism

Another sign of burnout is losing interest and enthusiasm in your work or other activities. You may feel detached, indifferent, or resentful towards your colleagues, clients, or family members. You may also develop a negative or pessimistic outlook on life and lose sight of your goals and values.

  1. Emotional exhaustion

Burnout can also affect your emotional state and make you feel drained, hopeless, or helpless. You may have difficulty regulating your emotions and experience mood swings, irritability, or anger. You may also isolate yourself from others and withdraw from social support.

  1. Reduced performance

Burnout can also impact your productivity and quality of work. You may have trouble concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. You may also make more errors, miss deadlines, or avoid responsibilities. You may feel like you are not achieving anything or making a difference.

  1. Low self-esteem

Burnout can also erode your confidence and self-worth. You may feel like you are not good enough, competent enough, or appreciated enough. You may also doubt your abilities and skills and compare yourself unfavorably to others.

If you have any of these warning signs, it is advised that you speak to a medical professional.
